Sonia Desai is a Director in the Litigation Consulting and Business Valuation practices at HSSK. She leads the Business Valuation practice in our Austin office. She has over twelve years of experience providing legal and corporate clients with exceptional insight into forensic, valuation and accounting related matters including serving as an expert witness in litigation matters. Her diverse experience in disputes, investigations, business valuation, accounting and audit gives her a unique perspective to provide innovative and comprehensive solutions to her clients. Sonia's litigation consulting experience includes preparing and analyzing damage claims from actual and future lost profits, disgorgement of profits, as well as diminution in value, with claimed damages ranging from less than $100,000 to over $100 million. In addition, Sonia has significant experience in advising clients on the value of assets and business interests for estate and gift tax planning purposes, mergers & acquisitions, financial reporting and litigation. Her work has spanned various industries including manufacturing, banking, oil and gas, utilities, professional services, healthcare, high-tech and others.

Sonia holds several designations, including Certified Public Accountant*, Accredited Senior Appraiser, Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Business Valuator. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto in 2004. Sonia previously served in a Director level position in the Disputes & Investigations practice of an international publicly-traded consulting firm. She has served as a panelist and presenter to several legal associations, including the American Bar Association and Travis County Women Lawyers’ Association. She has also authored several articles for publication in journals, including the CPA Insider, Austin Business Journal and Austin Lawyer.
